Favorite Authors

This will be an ever growing list of my favorite authors to read. Not too many because I want to keep it to my absolute favorites.

J. K. Rowling

Books I Love: The entire Harry Potter series.

Why I love her: Harry Potter is one of the books that really sparked my love of reading. I’ve always loved to read, but it wasn’t until then I really found my passion for it. Harry Potter has become a huge series with many, many fans. But I will always love it because it is not only fun, but well written as well. She isn’t just writing books with enjoyable plots, but she is a genuinely amazing author.

Jane Austen

Books I Love: Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Emma are my three favorites. (Along with Mansfield Park, Persuasion, and all the rest of her wonderful works).

Why I Love her: How can you not love her? Austen was a woman writing in a society where pretty much only men were writing. She was a pioneer in writing in general! She made important points while being hilarious at the same time. Usually, books from so long ago are very difficult to read, even if they are good. But I never felt like reading her books was a chore. Austen’s books are so important and something everyone (especially women authors) should definitely read.

Kelley Armstrong

Books I Love: The Darkest Powers and Darkness Rising trilogies.

Why I Love Her: While the books I love are a bit on the younger side, these books have been on the top of my favorites list for a very long time. The Darkest Powers series was something I read once a year for a few years when I was younger. I’m not sure what it was about the series, but it was just so good. Armstrong just is so good at writing compelling stories. My mom was always a fan of the adult books and I would read the young adult books. Now that I’m older, I’m excited to get into the Women of the Otherworld series and I’m sure I’ll grow to love her even more.

Marissa Meyer

4684322Books I Love: The Lunar Chronicles series.

Why I Love Her: Meyer is very new to my list of favorites. There’s something about the Lunar Chronicles that just amazes me. Not only are the books so good, but she is also an amazing author. There’s something to my favorite authors that makes them more than just good storytellers. Meyer can balance a huge cast of characters while giving each individual one good character development. None of her characters are just there. Each one has a purpose and a voice. I love that these books are so creative in even just retelling fairy tales. I cannot wait for her to release more books because I am planning to read them all!
